Summary of Duties:
This position covers extra assignments, vacancies and / or vacation vacancies that accrue to Baggage/Red Caps/Info/Gateman in South Station, Boston. Performs the duties of the assignment covered and / or other duties as assigned by supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Handles checked luggage according to company procedures
Collect and protect all charges on excess baggage and parcel checks
Maintain baggage records and receive/sort company mail
Handle inquiries for lost or delayed baggage
Provide assistance to elderly/ADA passengers as required
Drive and operate mechanical equipment
Assist Amtrak passengers with information regarding routes, schedules, fates, Arrival/Departure and paging requests
Answer telephone requests for information and paging
Other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
Responsible for the safe and secure boarding of Amtrak passengers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or general education development (GED) high school equivalency diploma
Knowledge on how to operate ARROW ticketing
Ability to lift 50lbs
Required to wear uniform

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

Taking direction from crew and keeping communication with Solari with status of train and boarding times
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills

The hourly range is $26.30 - $35.07 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment).
