JOB SUMMARY (the purpose and general nature of the job):
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for all administrative aspects of the human resources activities and functions and provides administrative support to the HR Department.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following:
- Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
- Processes status changes.
- Assists in providing information regarding benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, retirement plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
- Provides backup to the HR Recruiter in recruitment efforts for exempt and nonexempt personnel, interns, and temporary employees.
- Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
- Trains management regarding supervisor training, terminations, promotions, performance review, and compliance.
- Maintains Human Resource Information System records and compiles reports from HRIS database.
- Coordinates and conducts company training as assigned.
- Verifies I-9 documentation as needed and assures all is current and compliant.
- Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
- Process and address HR related mail and obtain proper signatures on forms.
- Generates, updates, and maintains various HR reports as requested.
- Researches, suggests, and creates new HR programs for employees and works on various special HR projects as assigned.
- With guidance from the Sr. HR Director and HR & EHS Manager, administers compensation program.
- With guidance from the HR & EHS Manager, advises and coaches management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues, as assigned.
- Maintains compliance with local, federal, and state law and regulations concerning employment.
- Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.
- Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations, when applicable, ensures that the exit survey is administered prior to the employee’s last day.
- Assists in developing and maintaining supervisor and employee training program.
Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Minimal requirements for education, knowledge, and experience:

A bachelor's degree and three (3) to five (5) years of Human Resources experience preferred.
- High school diploma/GED and four (4) to six (6) years of Human Resources experience required.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
- Strong recruiting background required.
- Experience working with ADP PCPW payroll and ez Labor systems required.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results.
- Manage multiple business units in multiple locations.
- Manage multiple conflicting priorities.
- Be self-directed and motivated.
- Take initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:
- Work schedule generally consists of 40 hours per week, which may include on-call status, evenings, and/or weekends.
- Office environment
- Required to sit for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 20 pounds
