Human Resources Clerk IV (Workers' Compensation)

Position Specific Description
Recruitment Number 24-157TO, Human Resources Clerk IV (Workers' Compensation), SR-11, Honolulu, Oahu.
Summary of Duties

This position is located in the Human Resources Department, Disability Claims Management Division.

The Disability Claims Management Division is responsible for administering Workers' Compensation and Temporary Disability benefits pursuant to Chapter 386 and Chapter 392 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) and applicable administrative rules, as amended.

The position is responsible for providing clerical assistance to two Human Resources Specialists and the Human Resources Manager in case management; administering the Temporary Disability benefits plan; providing assistance to court/program staff on general inquiries regarding workers’ compensation requirements; and for recording and reporting occupational injuries and illnesses in accordance with §12-52.1 Hawaii Administrative Rules and 29 CFR 1904, as amended; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Generalized Experience: One (1) year of progressively responsible general office clerical experience.
Specialized Experience: Two (2) years of experience in an office where the work required the knowledge and application of pertinent human resources rules, regulations, procedures and program requirements.
Substitutions Allowed:
Substitutions of Education for Experience:
1. Successful completion of a clerical curriculum at an accredited business or technical school may be substituted for the General Experience on a month-for-month basis up to a maximum of one (1) year.
2. Successful completion of an academic year in an accredited college or university above the high school level may be substituted for one (1) year of the General Experience.
3. Graduation from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of General Experience and two (2) years of Specialized Experience. Applicants possessing this educational qualification are deemed to have met all of the requirements for the Human Resources Clerk IV level.
