Job Overview
As the Housing Access VISTA, you will help ECDC African Community Center of Denver (ACC) strengthen our capacity by developing and sustaining relationships with local property management companies, landlords, and housing authorities to secure safe, affordable housing for newly arrived refugees. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to address one of Denver’s, and the nation’s, biggest crises - affordable housing for underserved communities.
You will also have the opportunity to work directly with refugees and strengthen your cross-cultural communication skills as you gather feedback from clients to better inform future housing prospects. You will work with a welcoming and diverse staff and participate in all staff development training. Your work will have a lasting impact on ACC and its refugee community members, creating long-term relationships that support affordable housing for all! Conduct outreach to new landlords, providing education on the benefits of renting to refugees.
Collaborate with other housing access organizations and coalitions to achieve mutual goals, including securing safe and affordable housing for refugees and immigrants.
Gather feedback from refugee community members to better inform future housing prospects.
Conduct research on new and existing housing resources.
Develop educational and marketing materials on behalf of ACC.
Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong cross-cultural communication skills.
Able to demonstrate cross-cultural sensitivity while working with diverse populations.
Flexible, motivated, organized, and tech-savvy.
Experience working with at-risk populations is a plus.
Competency in a language other than English is a plus.
