Job Overview
As the Employment Access VISTA, you will support ACC by enhancing employment access for all working-age refugees. You will focus on improving employment services by identifying gaps, researching solutions, implementing program improvements, and developing partnerships The strategies and partnerships that you build will directly assist refugees in overcoming employment obstacles, such as language barriers, overseas qualifications that don’t transfer to the US, and lack of familiarity with how to gain employment in this country.
Additionally, you will create systems to track progress and measure the success of these initiatives, while also training staff to ensure long-term sustainability. Your efforts will directly contribute to expanding employment opportunities for refugees, fostering their self-sufficiency and integration into the workforce. You will create a body of work you can be proud of that you know will make an impact! This position is slated to work full-time, Monday-Friday, for one year (January 13,2025 - January 12, 2025). Develop and enhance programs that directly reduce poverty, improve access to essential resources, and foster greater integration for refugees.
Contribute to improving existing employment-training programs, such as ACC's Job Club, while also designing new ones based on a comprehensive needs analysis.
Explore innovative partnerships with other nonprofits to connect newcomers with much-needed digital and financial literacy support
Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong cross-cultural communication skills.
Able to demonstrate cross-cultural sensitivity while working with diverse populations.
Flexible, motivated, organized, and tech-savvy.
Experience working with at-risk populations is a plus.
Competency in a language other than English is a plus.
