The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey (BRFSS) interviewer is responsible for collecting health information via telephone from WV adults on topics such as general health, health behaviors, preventive practices, and chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and arthritis. The information is collected by computer assisted telephone interviewing. Public health programs, lawmakers, and policy makers rely on this information to shape future programs and fund various health programs in the state of West Virginia. The information collected is used to educate the public and providers and understand the health practices and behaviors of West Virginians. BRFSS interviewers workdays, nights, and weekends.

Training: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
Substitution: Full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in paraprofessional or responsible clerical work at a level consistent with the work performed by an Office Assistant III and which required application of state and federal laws and/or guidelines, may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.
