Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Job Overview
Bidwell Environmental, LLC is a successful environmental, health and safety consulting firm specializing in environmental health and safety consulting for large scale construction projects in the NY Metropolitan and Tri-State areas. For over 25 years Bidwell has provided EHS expertise in support of facility planning, design and construction projects, providing for safe and healthful working conditions and protection of the environment. Our trained staff of EH&S professionals, scientists, and field technicians are qualified to effectively consult on all project designs and construction management efforts.

We are seeking candidates for our Sugar Loaf, NY main office to work directly under our Corporate Safety Director. The position would entail time between the main office and project field locations, as needed. It is estimated that duties would eventually be roughly 70 - 80% office-based and 20 - 30% field-based.
Responsibilities include assistance with JHA and Environmental Health and Safety Plan development, review of safety-related submittals, training development and delivery, incident investigation input, field audits and metrics, as well as related administrative functions to facilitate compliance with internal and client-specific requirements, and would be based at the main office, with project locations throughout the NYC metro area, Hudson Valley and Catskills.
Qualifications:
  • The successful candidate must have a background in a Safety or Industrial Hygiene-related field and have experience in construction safety oversight.
  • Current 40-hr Hazwoper and OSHA 10-hr Construction training are required.
  • Familiarity with NYCDEP requirements and professional safety credential are preferred.
  • Candidates must be able to work independently and multitask.
  • Excellent computer, communication, organizational and written skills are a must.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Power Point is required.
  • Candidates must be self-starters and quick learners and demonstrate a familiarity with safety and basic environmental regulations and BMPs.
Salary commensurate with experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00 - $55.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
