Overview
We are seeking a Full Time Entry Level Environmental Scientist, in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. To be hired on a full-time basis, in primary support of our stormwater compliance program. There will also be opportunities to participate in a variety of other environmental compliance support tasks, including but not limited to, solid waste, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, aboveground storage tanks, spill prevention, DOT and RCRA compliance, site assessment and remediation, and/or environmental data management.
Duties
Collecting environmental samples in the field and preparing and preserving samples for delivery to an analytical laboratory.
Calibrating and using technical instruments.
Gain familiarity with site specific requirements through review of permit and planning documents, including the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) or State-Specific General Permit, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan, and any other applicable plans that have been prepared for the site.
Maintain accurate records of experiments and data collection processes.
Participate in fieldwork as needed, including gardening or environmental assessments.
Experience
A degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Science, Biology, Geography, or related disciplines is preferred.
Travel and flexibility in working hours will be required to accommodate stormwater sampling requirements based on qualifying rain events.
Able to work independently in the field and in all types of field conditions/weather, including during rain events.
Overtime and weekend work may be required to meet project sampling requirements.
Detail oriented with strong written and oral communication skills.
