DEFINITIONThis is semi-skilled and supervisory work in performing a variety of general maintenance assignments.An example in this class supervises a small group of Laborers and/or Maintenance Workers I in the performance of a variety of general maintenance assignments which require familiarity with a number of various trades. Work is reviewed by supervisors for compliance with oral and written instructions and for operating efficiency.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
EXAMPLES OF WORK (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE) Operates small electrical and gasoline powered equipment used in pumping water or supply electricity. Operates light automotive equipment in transporting supplies or passengers. Makes minor repairs and adjustments to equipment and secures assistance in the event of breakdown or anticipated major operating difficulties. Makes minor electrical repairs including replacing fuses, replacing light bulbs, and making temporary extensions of electrical installations. Repairs and replaces screens, doors, shutters, plumbing fixtures, builds rough partitions, and makes minor building repairs such as repairing floors and steps. Makes minor repairs to equipment including replacing or repairing worn belts or tightening nuts and bolts. Cleans equipment and ascertains that lubrication and water and fuel consumption and supply are adequate for efficient performance. Instructs students in the basic principles of gardening and supervises their projects in the field Performs gardening activities including clearing and terracing land, planting, and harvesting vegetables. Performs custodial and laboring work as required Performs other-related work as required
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Some knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, and tools used in building, maintenance, and repair or machine operation trades. Some knowledge of the operating principles of various electric or gasoline powered equipment such as pumps and generating equipment. Ability to adapt oneself to the performance of a variety of mechanic and other repair assignments. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to supervise the work of subordinates and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with persons contacted in the course of the work Mechanical aptitude Ability to read and write.
