Annual Salary Range:

$65,362 - $87,258


The City of Tempe offers a comprehensive benefits package including:

DESCRIPTION

This position is an entry level professional position to promote the City of Tempe brand and inform the community and assist Communication and Marketing staff with public information campaigns, writing, photography, social media posts and/or help with special events.


Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ability to write in AP Style; strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient Mobile phone video and photography skills
  • Post compelling social media content to city channels.
  • Attend select city events to assist team members, work with staff from a variety of city departments on their communication needs
  • Serve as an information resource to a variety of people, including residents, contractors, architects, developers, business owners and their employees, news media, and community groups
  • Attend neighborhood meetings, community events, school groups, church groups, club meetings


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Work Experience:
Requires two (2) years of journalism or public relations experience for public or private organizations.


Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.



Education:

Requires the equivalent to an associate degree with major course work in communications, journalism, public relations.


The term “equivalent” means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal time increments for college-level education, for example: one year of additional directly related work experience will substitute for one year of college education (30 credit hours).


Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:
Possession of a valid driver's license


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
