Job Number: RC#902152 DESCRIPTION The Solid Waste Equipment Operator will perform routine tasks, semi-skilled and/or skilled tasks in the operation of front-loaders, roll-offs, side-loaders, rear-loaders, skid steer or similar equipment, and performs heavy manual labor for collecting, transporting, and disposing of solid waste materials from residential and commercial sources.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Work Experience: Solid Waste Equipment Operator I: Requires some experience in skid steer or similar equipment operation and knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances, and rules for operating a class A commercial vehicle; including experience reading and understanding route maps and street signs.
Solid Waste Equipment Operator II:
Requires one (1) year of solid waste experience. Proficient in the operation of two (2) pieces of solid waste equipment: front load, roll-off, side-load, or rear-load. Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Education: Both levels Requires High school diploma, GED or equivalency. The term “equivalent” means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal time increments for college-level education, for example: one year of additional directly related work experience will substitute for one year of college education (30 credit hours). Certification, Licenses, and/or Registrations: Both levels
Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
