Payless Collision is looking to expand our team of hard-working employees. Helping satisfied customers drive away with a smile on their faces is what we do; join a team focused on earning customers for life! We are looking for a skilled Auto Collision / Body Technician to join our Collision Department! This role involves repairing damaged vehicle surfaces. It involves applying body filler materials such as Bondo to damaged areas, shaping and block sanding the filler to match the vehicle’s contours, and preparing the surface for painting. We're looking for someone who works well with others, and is hard-working and reliable. We are an I-Car Gold Certified Repair Facility, so we expect quality work from our shop. Flat rate pay is DOE. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM—5 PM, with a lunch from 12-1pm. Key Responsibilities: Damage Assessment: Evaluate vehicle surfaces to identify areas requiring repair. Repair Planning: Develop detailed repair plans including methods and materials needed. Surface Preparation: Clean and prepare damaged areas by removing rust, dirt, and old paint. Ensure that the surface is smooth and ready for filler application. Filler Application: Mix and apply body filler (e.g., Bondo) to damaged areas. Shape and mold the filler to conform to the vehicle’s original contours. Sanding and Shaping: Sand the filled areas to achieve a smooth finish that blends seamlessly with the surrounding surfaces. Use various grades of sandpaper and sanding tools. Use a sanding block to sand the body filer. This helps to ensure that the surface is perfectly smooth and flat. Sanding by hand with a block allows for more control and helps to avoid creating waves or uneven spots. Priming: Apply primer to filled and sanded areas to prepare them for painting. Ensure that the primer is evenly applied and free of defects. Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure repairs are invisible and meet quality standards. Make adjustments as necessary to achieve a perfect finish. Tool Maintenance: Maintain and clean tools and equipment used in the repair process.
