The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Commercial Fisheries is recruiting for a Administrative Officer 1 located in Douglas!
What you will be doing:
This position is the lead Administrative Officer 1 position for the Southeast Region of Commercial Fisheries division. In direct consultation with regional and divisional leadership, this position is responsible for independent management of the administrative and budget activities of the section. Activities include the full range of administrative support to the section including responsibilities in budget, fiscal, procurement, travel, personnel, payroll, and other duties. This position will supervise two administrative positions within the section.

The working conditions you can expect:
This position is located at 802 3rd St in Douglas, Alaska, referred to as the ‘Douglas Island Building’, which offers beautiful channel views, nearby walking trails and Savikko Park.
At the discretion of management and depending on the applicant, telework opportunities are possible after successful completion of training, onboarding, and at least one month of employment. This position is being recruited for Douglas only. Employees on approved telework agreements will be expected to report to the office when necessary.

- Knowledge of administrative processes necessary to support government operations, such as financial monitoring, accounts payable/receivable, purchasing, and inventory.
- Strong skills in organizing workloads, setting priorities and coordinating concurrent timelines/schedules.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work effectively with senior management, adapt to changing priorities and work on multiple projects with overlapping or conflicting schedules.
- Ability to work effectively in high stress situations, analyze complex issues accurately and take prompt, appropriate action.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in
- Administration and Management: Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production.
- Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
- Financial Management: Prepares, justifies, and/or administers the budget for program areas; plans, administers, and monitors expenditures to ensure cost-effective support of programs and policies; assesses financial condition of an organization.
- Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or experience providing administrative support to a business or organization, business administration, public administration, finance, banking, accounting, industrial relations, marketing, human resource management, logistics and supply chain management, or a similar business field.
