Academic Advisor We are looking for a compassionate and empowering individual to provide academic advisement that aligns with our vision, mission, and values. What you'll do in this position:
Provide personalized one-on-one academic advising to Pre-Business students, helping them navigate the admission process, understand academic requirements, select majors, and plan their course scheduled.
Enforce university and college policies, ensuring students comply with academic requirements and curriculum guidelines.
Support students who are in academic jeopardy by developing and monitoring Academic Improvement Plans, while providing proactive interventions and follow-up to ensure student success.
Contribute to a positive and unified team environment by actively participating in college events, training, hiring initiatives, and recurring departmental meetings.
Participate in continuous professional development to stay current with best practices in academic advising and higher education trends.
What qualifies you for this role: Required
A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
Bachelor's degree
Excellent skills in communication (verbal, written, interpersonal and listening), decision-making, and problem-solving.
Ability to discern when to act independently vs when to reach out to proven resources.
Computer experience and proficiency in basic office computer programs and equipment
Preferred
Bachelor's degree and 4 years' experience in advisement-related experience OR Master's degree OR Advisement certification (or equivalent graduate coursework) and 0-4 years in advisement-related experience
