Job Overview
The Academic Tutor assists students in mathematics, physics, and statistics coursework ranging from developmental level to college sophomore level courses. The primary role of the tutor is to provide individualized one-on-one tutoring or offer small group tutoring sessions. This position requires commitment to excellence in undergraduate learning and teaching in an open-access college setting.
This will be a part-time position with a full-time equivalency (FTE) of 50%, with all hours occurring during Fall and Spring semesters, working out to approximately 30 hours a week throughout those 32 weeks. Working hours may include mornings after 8:00am, afternoons, and early evening (on two or three days a week). All hours will be worked in the William R. Deane Tutoring Lab at the Blue Ash Campus.
Essential Functions
- Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in Math, Physics, and Statistics.
- Guide students who need additional help with designated subject area classwork.
- Help students develop study plans and strategies.
- Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.
Required Education
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline. (Math, Physics, or Statistics)
Required Experience
One (1) year of teaching or tutoring related to the specified fields of Math, Physics, or Statistics.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Master's degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or a related field.
