Job Purpose
To work flexibly as part of a customer focused team assisting in the preparation and service of food and drink at both Wolfson Hall and the Kelvin Conference Centre. To ensure that the service is carried out in an efficient and effective manner and the highest standards are maintained at all times.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Cook Supervisors in the preparation and delivery of all meals required, ensuring the highest standards are always maintained.
- Ensure that the required levels of cleanliness and hygiene are met, adhering to the current Health & Safety and Food Safety policies.
- Demonstrate a passion for customer service, striving to exceed the customers’ expectations.
- Assist in the receipt, storage and management of all provisions including the control of food and non-perishable items and assisting with stocktaking.
- Assist in maintaining accurate due diligence records in conjunction with the operational safety of the department.
- Liaise and communicate with customers and colleagues to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the department.
- Assist in delivering functions in Wolfson Hall, the Kelvin Conference Centre, and Garscube Campus, carrying out all associated tasks as directed by the Cook Supervisors.
- Under the supervision of the Cook Supervisors, manage allergens and dietary requirements when serving food to customers.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential:
A1 Either: Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associates with this post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role. Or minimum Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework Level 3 in English and Mathematics (Nat 3) or equivalent.
A2 Good working knowledge of food handling and service.
Desirable:
B1 Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
B2 Level 2 Allergen Training Certificate.
B3 Working knowledge of extant Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations and policies.
B4 Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Skills
Essential:
C1 Excellent communication and customer service skills.
C2 Ability to use specialist equipment required to carry out basic duties.
C3 Good numerical and literacy skills.
C4 Ability to work under own initiative and also to agreed timescales as dictated by service requirements.
C5 Basic food preparation skills.
Experience
Essential:
E1 Learning gained through relevant training or work experience.
E2 Experience of communicating with customers.
Desirable:
F1 Experience of working in a similar catered environment.
F2 Stock control experience.
F3 Experience in manual handling.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 2, £22,728 per annum pro rata, plus 6% shift allowance.
This post is part-time (19 hours p/w), and open ended. Shifts are Monday 16.00 – 20.00, Saturday and Sunday 11.00 – 19.30.
