We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fleet Manager to join our Milling Replenishment Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing our fleet of trucks, ensuring their roadworthiness, and managing a team to facilitate timely and efficient deliveries. This role requires adherence to South African transport legislation and industry standards. Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Management: Ensure the roadworthiness and cleanliness of Code 14 trucks by maintaining high fleet standards, enhancing delivery reliability and reducing breakdown risks. Regularly inspect and maintain vehicles. Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance. Ensure all vehicles have up-to-date certification of fitness.
Compliance and Safety: Ensuring compliance with AARTO regulations and health and safety standards to minimise legal risks and promote a safe working environment. Maintain compliance with AARTO and FSSC 22000 standards. Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions. Lead and document accident investigations.
Cost Management: Tracking and controlling fleet-related expenses to ensure cost-effective operations to reduce operational costs and enhancing profitability. Monitor and report on fleet expenses. Identify and address cost inefficiencies. Implement strategies to reduce cost per kilometer.
Team Management: Developing and managing a high-performing transport team to enhance team productivity and morale, leading to improved operational efficiency. Recruit, train, and supervise team members. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
Operational Efficiency: Ensuring on-time and efficient deliveries by maintaining a fleet of clean, roadworthy trucks to enhance customer satisfaction through reliable delivery services. Coordinate with loading and delivery teams to optimise schedules.
Risk Management: Minimising risks associated with vehicle breakdowns and accidents to protect company assets and reduce liability. Conduct thorough investigations of all incidents and accidents.
Qualification Requirements
Education: Matric (Essential) Qualified Diesel Mechanic (Desirable) ,Diploma in logistics or similar (Desirable)
Experience Requirements
Experience: 3-5 years in a transport controller or fleet manager role 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
Key Outputs
Advanced knowledge of fleet maintenance requirements: Intermediate skills in fleet cost control processes, supplier management, and health and safety regulations. Proficiency in MS Office and fleet management planning. Desired experience with Great Plains/DRM/OTI or similar systems.
