Role Overview: The Route to Market Specialist will provide 360-degree oversight to Premier bakeries sites, including Strategic Distribution Contractors (SDCs). This role involves conducting territory mapping, route optimisation, planning, and coordinating seamless distribution strategies to enhance our market presence and efficiency.
Main Responsibilities:
Support Fact-based Decision Making:
Optimise routes using Roadshow and DRM to improve the distribution network.
Conduct territory optimisation based on geographical customer grouping.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Route to Market department.
Provide specialist support for complex projects, including business developments.
Route Viability and Cost Management:
Identify unprofitable routes and propose actionable improvement plans.
Analyse cost-to-serve metrics for new routes and areas.
Manage Strategic Distributor Model:
Ensure tracking installation and route information deployment for all SDCs.
Train SDCs on the DRM system.
Oversee SDC KPI reporting to ensure accountability and performance.
Route Compliance and Reporting:
Report on daily, weekly, and monthly route compliance KPIs and trends.
Manage and maintain the automated DRM dashboard for effective monitoring.
Assess the financial impact of strategic and operational decisions, such as optimisations and route adjustments.
Stakeholder Relationship Management:
Partner with key stakeholders to maintain distribution-related systems effectively.
Engage in cross-functional collaboration with internal teams, VSC, Ctrack, and Esri.
Cultivate productive relationships with SDCs to enhance operational performance.
DRM System Management:
Monitor service levels between DRM/VSC for Bakeries.
Ensure service level agreements regarding vehicle tracking are met.
Conduct master data health checks and ensure data accuracy and compliance with standards.
Manage and authorise payments for VSC-managed services, including route planning and vehicle tracking.
Qualification Requirements
Education:
Matric qualification (essential).
Diploma or Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management (essential).
Experience Requirements
Experience:
5-10 years of experience in the FMCG industry (essential).
Proven expertise in route planning and tracking software (5 years essential).
Strong understanding of ERP systems and proficiency in Excel (5 years essential).
