Education, Qualifications and Experience - Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 and Registration with SANC as an Enrolled Auxiliary Nurse essential - 1 year Higher Certificate in Nursing (GNR169) - Minimum one-year extensive experience in a private hospital will be advantageous. - Compliance with the SANC code for an Enrolled Nurse Assistant and all appropriate health care legislation. - Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position. - Appropriately balancing these various pressures to maintain stable performance. Able to collaborative relationships to help accomplish work goals. Responsibilities: Patient Assessment and Monitoring: - By assisting with activities of daily living and self-care, Enrolled Nurse Assistant contribute to the management of acute and chronic health conditions, thereby improving patient outcomes and quality of life. - Promotion of patient overall health and wellbeing by working effectively and co-operatively with others to establish and maintain good working relationships that are mutually beneficial, being effective in communication with patients’ regarding their care, always maintains patient confidentiality. - Action area: - Assessment of patient’s basic needs for: Hygiene and physical comfort. Promotion of exercise, rest and sleep.Need for early ambulation.Feeding and elimination. - Planning: Carrying out of the nursing care plan as planned under supervision of the shift leader - Implementation: Always ensure patient comfort. Attending to their hygiene needs, e.g. assisted baths, bed bath, etc. Assisting with baby baths. Initial baby bath with midwife. Vital signs observation. - Enhanced patient satisfaction - Through their compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care, Enrolled Nurse Assistants help create a positive and supportive healthcare environment that fosters trust, comfort, and satisfaction among patients and their families. - By addressing patient needs, concerns, and preferences with sensitivity and respect, Enrolled Nurses Assistants, contribute to overall patient satisfaction and loyalty to the healthcare organization. - Practice the principles of infection prevention and all standard precautions - Execute all procedures according to hospital standards Effective Care Coordination and Collaboration: - Collaborate closely with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals to establish and promote a supporting and helping relationship, with sensitivity to diverse health care users - By participating in interdisciplinary team meetings and care coordination efforts, Enrolled Nurse Assistant facilitate seamless communication, continuity of care, and efficient resource utilization, resulting in improved patient outcomes and healthcare delivery efficiency. - Refer all complaints from patients and doctors to sister-in-charge of the unit. Patient Safety and Risk Reduction: - Through their attention to detail, adherence to established protocols, and vigilant monitoring of patient conditions, Enrolled Nurse Assistants help ensure a safe and secure healthcare environment for patients, staff, and visitors. - By promptly identifying and reporting changes in patient status or safety hazards, Enrolled Nurses Assistants contribute to the prevention of adverse events and healthcare-associated infections, thereby enhancing patient safety and minimizing risk. - Equipment and supplies: Records any surgical stock items used on billing sheets of patients. Prevents waste and assists in preventing theft. Knows the correct use of equipment. Cares for and cleans equipment according to prescribed procedures. Reports equipment needing repair or replacement to sister-in-charge - Emergency / Disaster Plan: Attend training and practice to keep up to date with the hospital evacuation and disaster plan. - Medical – legal and safety aspects: Always practices within own scope, skills and level of training for Enrolled Nurse Assistant. Prevents risks as far as possible. Maintains a safe working environment in accordance with the Occupational and Safety Act - Reports unsafe conditions Professional Growth and Development: - Through ongoing professional development activities, such as continuing education, skills training, and participation in quality improvement initiatives, Enrolled Nurse Assistants have opportunities to expand their nursing knowledge, enhance clinical competencies, and advance their careers in the healthcare field. - By engaging in self-reflection, feedback, and performance evaluation, Enrolled Nurse Assistants can identify areas for improvement, set personal and professional goals, and strive for excellence in nursing practice, ultimately contributing to their own professional growth and fulfilment. - Maintain SANC membership by renewal yearly - Be knowledgeable about the governing body of the nursing profession, aims and objectives and regulations regulating the nurse’s scope of practice and misconduct standards are followed.
