We are seeking an Accountant to manage and oversee the financial operations of our restaurant. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with proven experience in accounting, financial reporting, and budget management. The Accountant will play a key role in maintaining the financial health of the restaurant by managing revenue, expenses, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Job Responsibilities: Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring all transactions are recorded properly. Expense and Revenue Tracking: Monitor daily revenue from sales and manage expenses, ensuring financial transparency and cost control. Reconcile daily cash receipts, credit card transactions, and bank deposits. Budget Management: Develop and manage the restaurant's budget, tracking expenses against projections, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring adherence to budgetary goals. Payroll Management: Oversee payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate payments to staff, compliance with tax regulations, and management of benefits and deductions. Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage accounts payable by processing vendor invoices, ensuring timely payments, and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers. Oversee accounts receivable, ensuring that all customer payments are collected in a timely manner. Financial Reporting: Prepare regular financial reports, including profit and loss statements, cash flow reports, and financial forecasts, and present them to senior management with actionable insights. Inventory and Cost Control: Collaborate with the kitchen and procurement teams to monitor inventory levels, ensuring proper costing of ingredients and supplies to maintain profitability. Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local and federal tax regulations, including preparing and filing tax returns, managing VAT and sales tax obligations, and maintaining proper records for audits. Internal Controls: Implement and maintain internal controls to prevent fraud and ensure the integrity of the restaurant’s financial operations. Bank Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to verify the accuracy of financial records and resolve any discrepancies promptly. Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities for growth, and areas for cost reduction. Provide insights and recommendations to improve profitability. Compliance and Regulatory Awareness: Ensure all financial activities comply with restaurant policies, industry regulations, and financial reporting standards. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Proven experience in accounting roles, preferably within the hospitality or restaurant industry.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping.
Ability to analyze financial data and provide actionable recommendations.
Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements in the restaurant sector.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
