Assistant Manager (Six Mile)

Peninsula Co-op is inviting applications from current staff members for the position of Assistant Manager at our Six Mile Liquor Store, located at 498 Island Highway, Victoria, BC. This is a full-time, permanent position that provides a range of 32-40 hours per week. Our ideal candidate should have the availability to accommodate a diverse range of shifts, including weekdays and weekends, across different time periods each day.

  • Has experience scheduling staff, ordering and receiving and understands budgets and KPIs

  • Prioritize and delegate duties to be accomplished, holding your team accountable
  • Good with numbers and can handle cash and other basic numerical calculations quickly and accurately
  • Able to be on their feet nearly all of their shift & consistently handling product (1 to 40 pounds)
  • Scan items and process transactions in an accurate and efficient manner including cash, credit/debit transactions and gift card activations
  • Look out for their safety and the safety of others
  • Values integrity and honesty; someone to admire and emulate
  • Must be able to successfully complete a criminal record check
  • Serving it right certificate required
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

The Assistant Manager’s primary role is to support the Manager in producing budgeted operating results. In the Manager’s absence, the Assistant Manager acts in a leadership capacity to ensure the effective operation of the liquor store.

Key areas of responsibility include ensuring a pleasant, comfortable and safe shopping experience for our customers; being a leader to the team, providing support to enable them to do their jobs and develop their skills, ensuring the department is well merchandised, stocked, organized, spotlessly clean and adequately staffed; and administrative tasks like ordering, pricing and inventory. In a supporting capacity, the Assistant Manager will assist with recruitment, staff relations, performance planning and reviews, period end and inventory counts.
