Human Resources Assistant

SUMMARY – Human Resources Assistant
Shift: M-F 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Location; 2595 Inkster Blvd. Winnipeg ,MB
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Assistant is responsible for administrating the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. This position provides excellent customer service and executes daily processing.
As a member of Trans X, the position is expected to align with the Trans X Core Values for Teamwork, Safety, Innovation, Accountability, Integrity, and Respect.
KEY ACTIVITIES
  • Drafting job postings according to descriptions and posting them through online recruitment channels.
  • Screening applicant resumes, creating shortlists for hiring managers and conducting phone screening interviews.
  • Offering administrative support through the onboarding and new hire process.
  • Ensure that customer communication regarding issues is timely and complete, and build proactive communication into daily processes
  • Create employment verification letters upon request
  • Aiding and supporting the Human Resource team with miscellaneous projects.
  • Organizing and filing employee paperwork and documents.
  • Coordinate all Human Resource invoices
  • Process any status changes through the HRIS (terminations, shift change, leave of absence, return from leave, etc.)
  • Process benefit administration such as benefit enrollments, updated beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, long-term disability claims, and compliance testing.
  • Coordinate daily RRSP processes (enrollments, terminations, contribution changes, beneficiaries, etc.)
  • Distribute informational materials for benefits orientations, enrollment and summary plan descriptions.
  • Consult and advise employees that are on short and long-term leaves of absence.
  • Assist the Human Resources Manager with coordinating and processing WCB & Injury emails, gathering information, completing employer statements
  • Prepare benefit-related performance reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends to improve processes, ensure resources are appropriately allocated, maximize efficiency, and enhance employee satisfaction.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Education
  • Recent graduate of, or currently enrolled in a post-secondary business administration and/or HR program.
Experience
  • Canadian HR experience is an asset
  • Knowledge using Workforce Now ( ADP) is an advantage
  • Work experience in an office environment is an asset
  • Work experience in transportation industry or related field considered an asset
Skills
  • People-first attitude

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated working ability with a variety of software applications and/or transportation databases (Microsoft Office suite, TMW, Synergize, or other database programs.
  • A positive attitude and excellent people skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both French & English
  • Strong organizational, priority management, and problem solving skills
