Assistant Controller

Phoenix Industrial Group of Companies is a leading provider of industrial fabrication, maintenance, and industrial construction services to our top tier customers. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Controller to join our finance team and contribute to our ongoing success.
Position Overview:
The Assistant Controller will support the financial management of Phoenix Industrial Group of Companies through preparation and analysis of financial statements, managing project accounting, while ensuring compliance with company and stakeholder requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with financial transactions in industrial ERP’s, (JD Edwards) and a strong understanding of accounting reconciliation’s.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of internal company reporting including financial statements and cash flows
  • Oversee and review daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development and implementation of financial controls and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with external auditors for financial audits and ensure timely completion of audit requirements.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports to provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Manage and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to financial transactions and reporting.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation or in-progress is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis.
  • Proven experience with major ERP systems, (preferably JD Edwards) is required.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point).
