What You'll be Doing
The Research Support Officer (RSO) will enhance and facilitate the collective abilities of Sydney Partnership for Health, Education, Research and Enterprise (SPHERE) and its partner organisations to be effective and efficient in this endeavour, by seamlessly leveraging the combined capabilities of our partners, collaborators and industry in order to facilitate and enhance the research performance of the SPHERE partnership.

The RSO will be aligned with a number of Platforms and/or Clinical Themes and act as the primary SPHERE contact for those Platforms or Clinical Themes. This position is instrumental in raising the research profile of SPHERE, supporting research and our researchers, and identifying and building collaboration across the SPHERE partnership. The role reports to the Research Outcomes Coordinator at SPHERE and has no direct reports.

  • Health or science-related degree along with extensive research support experience, or equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training, and/or experience in relation to the conduct of research.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the research funding environment and processes, and a commitment to working closely with researchers to achieve objectives.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement operational plans with little supervision, including the ability to achieve objectives, meet competing deadlines, and report on outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, including ability to prioritise work in order to meet tight timeframes whilst managing multiple tasks at once.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills with the ability to foresee potential issues and implement a solution.
  • Ability to produce a broad range of documents including briefs, research scopes, grant and research development and high-level reports.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to represent the organisation both internally and externally.
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
