About the Opportunity
The Health Promotion Service at SWSLHD is seeking an experienced Health Manager to provide strong leadership and management of programs and staff in the HARP (HIV and Related Programs) portfolio, in line with the Ministry of Health and SWSLHD’s goals, principles and strategies.
What You'll be Doing
The HARP Manager will be responsible for planning, implementation, evaluation and local coordination of HARP initiatives. This includes implementing relevant strategies of the District, State and National plans for HIV, sexually transmissible infections, hepatitis C and hepatitis B. The position also works with HARP sector services and broader health and non-health services and organisations to undertake HARP activities across SWSLHD.
The purpose of this position is to improve the health of people living in south western Sydney by contributing to Population Health’s program of work in line with the Ministry of Health and South Western Sydney Local Health District’s (SWSLHD) goals, principles and strategies.
The position will report to the Director, Health Promotion and participate in the senior management team providing operational support for health promotion services across SWSLHD and contribute to the broader service planning for health improvement in the population.
The HIV and Related Programs (HARP) Manager is responsible for planning, implementation, evaluation and local coordination of HARP initiatives. This includes implementing relevant strategies of the District, State and National plans for HIV, sexually transmissible infections, hepatitis C and hepatitis B. The position also works with HARP sector services and broader health and non-health services and organisations to undertake HARP activities across SWSLHD.
The position will manage integrated implementation planning and timely reporting of activity, including mandatory reporting to NSW Health and SWSLHD Key Performance Indicators for Population Health.
The position represents the SWSLHD on a range of relevant NSW HARP advisory and working committees in relation to delivering on strategies in NSW State HIV, STI and BBV Strategic plans.
The HARP Manager will manage the HARP Team and provide strong leadership and management of programs and staff, ensure workforce development opportunities exist for staff, effectively manage human resources, ensure work health and safety and promote effective communication with staff and management.

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant health field, or extensive relevant experience, preferably in sexual health, HIV or related health services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of National, State and Local strategy related to STIs, HIV, hepatitis C and hepatitis B and experience in applying these to service delivery for priority populations.
- Extensive experience in delivery of population focused HARP initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, and program design, implementation and evaluation within an evidence-based framework.
- Demonstrated ability to address complex organisational issues using analytical, critical appraisal and problem solving skills and achieve deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate with internal and external program partners to achieve successful program implementation and sustainability.
- Demonstrated capacity to manage all aspects of a professional team, including motivating and coordinating staff to work within an action oriented multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated high-level organisational and computer skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills in all settings and circumstances, including computer literacy and ability to use standard office programs.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
