The Role
As the Research Officer you will support the search, analysis and provision of operational information in support of stakeholder requests. This role reports to the Information Response Coordinator and will work alongside a small team.
As the Research Officer, you will:
- Extract, collate and analyse sensitive operational material to provide a timely response to stakeholder requests using appropriate search methodologies.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders, both internal and external, promoting a collaborative working environment and building effective relationships.
- Assist the Information Response Coordinator in coordinating a response to various stakeholders.
- Apply redactions and reclassify documents, within the Australian Government and Defence security frameworks.
- Assist in research of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and development of Ministerial Responses.
- Assist in incident management coordination.
- Have the ability to triage workload and be flexible in managing changing priorities in a fast paced environment, along with the eagerness to learn and advance in a growing organisation.
- Provide additional support within HQJOC as directed
The performance of the Research Officer will be measured against the quality of timely and comprehensive search outcomes, engagement with stakeholders and management of priorities and expectations.
About our Team
The Sensitive Issues Management Cell (SIM Cell) is responsible for the following:
- Providing operational information to various stakeholders, including Afghanistan Inquiry Response Task Force (AIRTF), Inspector General of Australian Defence Force (IGADF) and Royal Commission into Defence Veteran Suicide (RCDVS), as well as internal stakeholders within HQJOC in response to operational requirements.
- Management of joint operational and exercise incidents.
- Ministerial advice and Freedom of Information (FOI).
- Ad Hoc tasking from various stakeholders within Defence.
