Our Planning & Infrastructure Economics helps shape the future of energy by collaborating with industry leaders on cutting-edge energy policy issues. With the global and Australian energy sectors undergoing rapid transformation, our team are working closely with governments, utilities, consumer groups and policymakers to address the evolving challenges and opportunities.
We are a part of KPMG Australia’s Infrastructure, Assets and Places group which has over 600 professionals that deliver strategic, commercial, and technical expertise and tailored solutions for clients.
Your Opportunity – Economic Analyst (Senior Consultant or Manager levels)
You will contribute to reforms in market design, network planning and regulation, the integration of consumer energy resources, and other dynamic areas shaping the future of the energy sector. You will work in a collaborative, dynamic environment that requires precision, often addressing complex and engaging challenges related to market transformation, economic efficiency, and customer behaviour.
We value teamwork and the ability to learn from and work alongside industry leaders on energy policy development and regulation, supporting clients through complex challenges and driving reform across the energy sector. You will have the opportunity to:
  • Work with governments and policymakers to influence and shape energy policy and regulatory frameworks.
  • Advise clients on strategies to navigate regulatory and policy challenges to optimise value.
  • Contribute to resolving policy questions and issues that impact the energy industry across Australia.
  • Manage client deliverables and expectations, from drafting reports and presentations to building strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other KPMG service lines to provide integrated solutions across energy and infrastructure.
  • Play an active role in fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture while mentoring junior colleagues.

  • Expertise or strong interest in energy policy, market reform, regulatory frameworks, and strategy.

  • Qualifications in commerce, economics, law, engineering, science, or a relevant field.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, balancing competing demands.
