The Role
Intelligence and Insights Branch is seeking candidates suitable to lead dynamic and high-tempo Directorates responsible for producing geospatial-intelligence (GEOINT) on issues of defence, geopolitical and strategic significance, and in accordance with Defence and broader government requirements.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing appropriate strategies to guide your Directorate’s work program, and you will engage routinely with networks across Defence, the National Intelligence Community (NIC) and broader Government to ensure the team’s intelligence outputs are meeting demand, and having impact for Government.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in exercising strong strategic judgment, providing expert and timely advice to enable senior decision-making. Experience working in the National Intelligence Community, or related national security departments or agencies is highly preferred.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team
The Defence Intelligence Group brings together Defence’s intelligence functions to deliver priority-driven, fused intelligence analysis and products. As an integral part of the Defence Intelligence Group, the Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation leads the Defence community in delivering geospatial-intelligence (GEOINT) in support of the Defence and National interest.

GEOINT is a critical enabler for Defence operations and national activities such as Australian Defence Force operations and training, whole-of-government intelligence and security activities, natural disaster responses, strategic decision-making and policy development.
