ABOUT THE ROLE As a Support Worker, you are directly responsible for the day to day support, personal care, domestic assistance and personal development of our participants. You will also provide a range of community living, social and recreational support services to assist people with a disability or mental illness to be actively involved in their local community, be valued and respected and engaged in meaningful opportunities.You will need a car to travel to participants residence as well as a mobile phone. As an employee at THDS, we expect our staff to work within the values of the organisation, have a current Working with Vulnerable People care and Police check. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE What Do You Need?
Minimum Certificate 3 in Disability, Aged Care, Community Services/ Aged care, Mental Health with a minimum of 12 months experience.
First Aid Certificate
A current valid Driver's License and a registered, insured vehicle
Satisfactory Police Records Check and Working with Children Check, prior to commencement
NDIS Orientation Certificate
NDIS Workers check
Experience in supporting people with mental health and clients who have behaviour of concern is preferable
Evidence of full COVID19 (including booster if eligible) vaccination or valid medical exemption
Manual Handling training would be of advantage
Have current entitlements to work in Australia
Working with children check
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
Ability to work independently & as part of a team
Intermediate computer skills
Flexibility to work rotating rosters, including evenings & weekends and public holidays
