Primary objective
The Business Manager is responsible for managing the provision of comprehensive, quality business support to the Correctional Centre
and providing expert advice and support to the Correctional Centre’s Management Team on administrative, financial, human resources
and business support matters.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Leading and managing the provision of strategic, comprehensive, quality business systems, structures and support for the correctional
centre, including financial management, reporting and human resource management.
2. Proving a range of specialist business planning and business analysis services, including facilitating continuous improvement in
financial, procurement and other business support functions within the facility.
3. Prepare complex correspondence, including Ministerial briefings, Legislative Assembly briefings, Estimates briefs and Cabinet
Submissions.
4. Manage internal financial audits of the facility.
5. High level consultation and collaboration with external stakeholders, NTCS Executive Management Group and other Government
Agencies with regard to financial, human resource, business support and training issues.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven experience in the preparation, control, analysis and reporting of a significant budget whilst providing expert fiscal advice at an
executive level.
2. Demonstrated high level of leadership skills and relationship management with exceptional communication skills in order to liaise with
a diverse range of staff within a multi-disciplinary work unit including liaison with executive management, external stakeholders and
senior government officials to achieve outcomes in line a strategic plan / directions document.
3. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
4. Demonstrated capability to manage contracts within related policies, procedures and legislation; and an ability to identify potential
risks whilst continuously seeking value for money.
5. Demonstrated experience in appropriate planning, development, operation and monitoring of capital equipment and minor new works
programs.
6. Demonstrated ability to manage human resource functions within a complex business unit.
7. Extensive experience in the development, implementation and monitoring of organisational policy.
8. Proven commitment to Workplace Health and Safety, Anti-Discrimination and Equal Employment Opportunity.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline eg. Business, Human Resource Management.
2. Knowledge of financial, human resource and procurement legislation and policy relevant to the Northern Territory Public Sector.
