Primary objective

Provide leadership and direction to the Accounts Receivable (AR) team to ensure DCDD provides an efficient and effective

AR service to client agencies. As well as managing working relationships across client agencies to ensure positive business

outcomes are achieved for NTG Agencies.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Assist the AR Manager to manage and coordinate all operational aspects of the whole of government function of

Accounts Receivable, including the effective and timely delivery of services.

2. Provide expert advice to a range of internal and external clients about AR functions and NTG debt recovery process

options.

3. Support a culture of achievement and continuous improvement through constructive practices with a focus on improving

the effectiveness and efficiency of services through engendering high-level professionalism, innovation and customer

service focus.

4. Provide senior client agency staff with written investigation results on complaints or complex situations with considered

recommendations for them to consider.

5. Assist the AR Manager to develop and deliver training programs to the AR team and client agency staff when required.

6. Assist with co-ordinating and monitoring the AR services across the Alice Springs and Katherine offices.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.

2. Well- developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate

effectively with diverse cultures and at all levels.

3. Strong client focused service delivery skills, positive attitude and the ability to develop these skills in others.

4. Demonstrated contemporary knowledge of accounting and financial principles, practices, standards and knowledge of

legislated requirements, with a focus on debt recovery.

5. Proven ability to understand and interpret legislative frameworks.

6. Extensive experience in office software packages and financial databases.

7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest,

respectful and innovative.

Desirable

1. Formal tertiary qualifications in accounting or other relevant business discipline.

2. A good knowledge of the Territory's Financial Management Framework and its practical application.
