The Role
The ADF Cadets Coordination Officer (APS 6) will provide high-level administrative support and will be an integral part of the ADF Cadets Directorate within Reserve and Cadet Support Division (RCSD). The role is responsible for providing coordination, administrative support and facilitation of ADF Cadets governance and reporting requirements, including preparing and coordinating responses to ministerial requests, reviewing policy, and providing enabling support to the respective Service cadet headquarters on joint matters across agreed common areas.
The Coordination Officer will be responsible for the roles of Security Officer and Objective Work Group Coordinator within the Directorate. They will also be responsible for the development and preparation of quality responses and advice for a range of correspondence including ministerials, managing competing priorities, and triaging and prioritising tasks to meet required objectives.
Quality stakeholder engagement is a fundamental requirement. The applicant will need excellent team and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise, collaborate, build and maintain productive relationships within the ADF Cadets Directorate, Reserve and Cadet Support Division and the respective Service cadet organisations.
About our Team
The newly established Reserve and Cadet Support Division provides a range of support services including Youth Policy, Programs and Training; Youth Protection and Reporting; ICT Services and Projects; and Reserve and Employer Support. These directorates work together to contribute to Defence people capability.
The ADF Cadets Directorate is a new team within the Division. It provides complementary supporting and enabling functions through a collaborative approach between the respective ADF cadet programs administered by Navy, Army and Air Force. The Directorate seeks to achieve standardisation across the three programs, where practicable, for policy, administration and youth protection. It does not command the cadet organisations – they are commanded, resourced and administered by their respective Service chiefs.

Ideally the candidate will have previous Government experience, and a broad understanding of Defence and the ADF Cadets programs.
