Wastewater Operator

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Wastewater Operator Trainee to join our team. This is an entry level training work learning position. The ideal candidate will receive structured on-the-job training to develop the knowledge, competencies, and skills needed to prepare for waste water treatment certification. The candidate will apply the skills and techniques to operate and maintain waste water treatment facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
Responsibilities

Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment and processes to ensure optimal performance.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on machinery, including heavy equipment and logic controllers.
Conduct regular inspections of treatment facilities to identify any operational issues or necessary repairs.
Maintain accurate records of operations, including flow rates, chemical usage, and maintenance activities.
Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot problems related to distributed control systems and equipment functionality.
Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and environmental regulations during operations.
Assist in the training of new staff on wastewater treatment procedures and equipment operation.

Requirements

Participates in on-the-job training in wastewater treatment plant operation.
Operates chlorinators, digestors, aerators, and other related wastewater treatment equipment accordingly to standard operating procedures.
Participates in operating and maintaining collection and conveyance systems.
Receives training in order to sample and test influent and effluent to ensure acceptable p H level, purity, clarity, and biochemical levels.
Receives training in preparing and submitting testing data and documentation for permit, licensing, and certification requirements.
Participates in inspecting and cleaning settling tanks, sludge beds, and other wastewater treatment plant components.
Reads computerized system output screens and meters, records findings daily, and assist with interpreting results of readings and observations.
Performs routine inspection and maintenance of plant equipment
Operates public swimming pool circulation pumps and sanitary equipment.
Performs related work as required.

Entry Level Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the use and care of standard tools used in building maintenance
Knowledge of routing building repare and maintenance practices
Knowledge of the use and functionality of Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to perform mathematical computations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, area, volume, and ratios.
Ability to read charts, graphs, meters, and other measuring devices and maintain records.
Effective reading, writing, and speaking skills
Ability to properly lift up to 65 pounds.
