Description This is a remote/ rotational position, working two weeks on and two weeks off or three weeks on and three weeks off, in Prudhoe Bay, AK. The typical schedule is 84 hours per week (40 hours straight time and a minimum of 44 hours at time and a half). All meals and lodging are provided by Worley while the employee is on location. Job Purpose: The Suppression Technician Fire & Gas Level 2 is an entry level position that provides hands-on installation, maintenance, repair, testing and inspection of fixed and portable fire suppression systems and equipment. The position is located on the North Slope of Alaska and requires a rotational work schedule. Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided; however, transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided. Room and meals are provided while in Prudhoe Bay. Essential Job Functions:
Inspect, service, maintain and repair portable and wheeled fire extinguishers as well as installed fire protection systems (Halon, FE-13, Dry Chemical, CO2, Deluge, Foam, Sprinkler, Standpipes, Hydrants, Division Valves and Fine Water Mist).
Perform some installation work to meet client and appropriate code specifications.
Conduct performance tests on facility firewater systems.
Record, maintain and evaluate test data.
Use and care for tools and equipment employed to testing and maintenance of supported fire suppression systems.
Examine work and materials for compliance with job and safety specifications.
Attend various components of technical, developmental and safety training.
Promote safe work practices and implement company and client safety policies for work crew, including. proper hazard recognition and mitigation.
Demonstrate support for the company's environmental management systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to use hand tools, powered tools and equipment applicable to Fire and Gas related work.
Able to read and interpret drawings, specifications, vendor data, and technical data sheets, etc.
Able to demonstrate general knowledge of NFPA Standards, the Alaska Administrative Code, and OSHA safe work.
Proficient in computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
Versed in general operations and safety practices and policies, as well as specific knowledge of procedures and standards applicable to the Fire and Gas craft technical and safety policies.
Ability to work as part of a team with fellow workers and your alternate.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. Candidate understands the site is approximately 840 miles (at least 4 hours by air ambulance) from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and where medical evacuation from this location may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to:
Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach through low and high ranges, work overhead, and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.
Standing for prolonged periods of time.
Driving for prolonged periods of time in the dark and inclement weather
Ability to climb scaffold, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and/or wellhouse/tank/facility fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.
Ability to wear and utilize fall protection within manufacturer specifications.
Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.
Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.
Carry 50 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.
Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 feet.
Push/pull 90 lbs. cart for 20 feet.

Qualifications
Must be able to obtain a State of Alaska fire systems permit water based or special hazards (2A, B or C OR 3A, B, or C) within two years of date of hire.
State of Alaska Level III Fire extinguisher permit within 90 days of hire.
High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
Valid driver’s license required and ability to be insured by WORLEY auto insurer.
North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC). Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) years of North Slope arctic work experience preferred.
Two plus (2+) years of construction or industrial facility maintenance preferred.
