It is vital that a work study student be punctual and report for work at the time(s) and day(s) designated by the department in conjunction with the student’s academic schedule. If for any reason the student sees they are going to be late, it is required they call the department and/or supervisor as soon as possible. Frequent tardiness will be noted and could be used as grounds for dismissal.
During Spring semesters, there will be one Friday evening (not later than 7:00 pm) and one full Saturday (8:00 to 5:00, possibly later), when the student will be required to work. This is our annual National History Day Arkansas competition.
It is important the work study student understands the sensitive information surrounding them in an academic office environment. UCA policy requires work study students to pass and complete several online training courses including, but not limited to, FERPA and Sexual Harassment.
We encourage you to bring your studies with you when you come to work. During “down time” feel free to work on your academics, with the understanding you may be interrupted with basic office related duties. The job is “work-study” and there likely will be times when you have the opportunity to attend to your academics.
Our doors are open for any concerns you may have. The History Department strives for a relaxed business atmosphere of mutual respect and collegiality.
