Job Summary

Help play an important role in the health of Minnesotans by becoming the Sage Coordinator in the Sage and Comprehensive Cancer Control Section of the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease (HPCD) Division. The Section is seeking a leader to coordinate and administer the grant activities within Sage, Minnesota’s National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program.
Responsibilities of the role may include, but are not limited to:
  • Planning for and assuring requirements for Sage are met per grant guidelines and protocols.
  • Establishing and strengthening relationships with partner provider clinics.
  • Building collaborations with community organizations, tribal health, and local public health.
  • Developing and maintaining program policies.
  • Conducting outreach and health equity initiatives focused on disparate populations.
  • Confirming program monitoring and evaluation are in place.

Work may be conducted in-person in St. Paul, or as telework for applicants who reside in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, North Dakota, or South Dakota, based on the business needs of the unit and supervisor discretion. Position location will be determined by the top candidate and will be based out of the closest Minnesota Department of Health office location. Occasional travel to the St. Paul office location will be required including quarterly in person meetings.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years experience planning, implementing, or administering a public health program for chronic disease. Experience to include all of the following:
  • Working with health care providers/clinics or health systems.
  • Project management and/or coordination.
  • Grant writing, development, or management.
A degree in public health, public policy, social work, psychology, or related program may count towards professional experience as follows:
  • Bachelor’s = 12 months
  • Master’s = 18 months
  • Doctoral = 24 months
Abilities, skills and knowledge to be assessed at interview:
  • Written and verbal communication skill sufficient to present and share information in a clear manner and provide professional consultation.
  • Knowledge of theories, principles, and practice of public health constructs and systems.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to health equity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience planning, implementing, or administering a public health program for cancer.
  • Knowledge of state, local, and tribal public health system planning processes, and administrative structure.
  • Experience reviewing, evaluating, and writing technical reports, procedures, correspondence, and planning documents.
  • Experience in data interpretation.
  • Experience working with diverse and/or underserved communities.
Additional Requirements
  • Must successfully pass a background and reference check.
  • This employment does not require a valid driver's license, but it does demand occasional travel, which the candidate will be responsible for meeting.
  • The successful candidate under U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services regulations must be able to accept work in the U.S. by the day employment begins. The agency is unable to offer H-1B sponsorship.
