The Mining Engineering and Management Department (MEM) at South Dakota Mines is seeking a Research Project Specialist to be part of the Caterpillar Minestar Consortium. The incumbent will be actively involved in applied research in the areas of existing and emerging mining technology for both underground and open pit equipment.
The ideal candidate will have a BS in Engineering or a related field and experience in project leadership involving mining, quarry or construction applications. Cross functional team-based project experience\exposure to the mechanical, electrical, or big data side of industry is highly desired. The incumbent will work closely with the MEM Department Head and an existing industry partner to identify and work on solving a variety of problems that range in complexity and timeline. This will involve supervision and management of undergraduate, and graduate students working on applied projects.
