Research and Development Technician

We are currently seeking a Research and Development Technician to join our team on-site in Ithaca, NY, for a temporary assignment.
Job Title
Research and Development Technician
Position Summary: The R&D Technician (3-month temporary assignment) is responsible for building paper-based swabs for use in a research and development project. The work includes making the swabs based on existing SOP, improving the production process as possible and participating in the QC process to ensure reproducibility and consistent quality of the approximately 20,000 parts to be created.
Job Responsibilities

Follow existing SOP to create paper based swabs for Rn D project.
Swab manufacturing entails use of laminators, hot irons, paper folding, paper trimmers and fixtures for precision cutting.
Actively participate in process changes to improve manufacturability and quality of the product
Conduct quality control steps after manufacturing to ensure consistency and conformity of the made material
The goal is to create 20,000 of the paper-based swabs

Job Requirements

Minimum high school diploma, ideally some education in scientific or engineering field, or equivalent demonstrable skillset.
Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity is a must have
Experience with typical household arts and craft projects would be beneficial (paper trimmers, scissors and silhouettes, document lamination and sticker ironing)
Work environment is an Rn D room with use of other machinery and chemicals, experience with machine and chemical safety is a plus.
