Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Operating Room (OR) team in York, PA. As an integral part of our surgical services, the Registered Nurse in the Operating Room plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients undergoing surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Preoperative Preparation:
- Assess patients' physical and emotional status prior to surgery.
- Verify surgical consent forms and relevant documentation.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure patient readiness for surgery.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to prepare the operating room and equipment.
- Intraoperative Care:
- Assist the surgical team during procedures by providing instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and responses to anesthesia throughout the surgical process.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and ensure a sterile environment is maintained.
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other team members to optimize patient outcomes.
- Postoperative Care:
- Monitor patients' recovery from anesthesia and surgical interventions.
- Assess patients for any signs of complications or adverse reactions.
- Provide postoperative education and instructions to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Accurately document all aspects of patient care according to facility policies and regulatory standards.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Current RN licensure in the state of PA.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in perioperative nursing, preferably in an operating room setting.
- BLS and ACLS certification required; CNOR certification preferred.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing education and professional development.
