Job Description
Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking Radiological Control Technicians to support the Naval Reactor Facility in Idaho. Come join an exciting career and support the Naval Nuclear Fleet. As a Radiological Control Technician, you will be trained to perform oversight and perform radiological work. In this position you would be responsible to:
  • Perform radiological surveys of work, work areas, and facilities for quantitative radiological assessments
  • Respond to radiological casualties as necessary
  • Perform oversight of radiological work to ensure compliance with applicable requirements and work standards
  • Provide oversight for evolutions such as movement of nuclear fuel and assembly/disassembly of nuclear fuel test trains
  • Provide oversight of remediation of highly contaminated components and hot cell/water pool evolutions
  • Perform radiological surveys to support the shipment/receipt of nuclear fuel and/or waste
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • 2 years of college training, OR vocational school (Radiological Technician programs), OR a Naval Nuclear Operator.
  • Ability to qualify as an Article 108 Radiological Controls Technician
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance
  • Ability to work shift work if required
Preferred Skills
  • Previous Article 108 qualification.
  • Experience as a Lead Engineering Laboratory Technician, or experience as a shipyard radiological controls technician.

Pay Range
$30.61 hourly

Jobs categorized as subject to a collective bargaining agreement will adhere to the pay rates, wage increases, progression schedules, and other parameters identified and negotiated in said agreements. Wages and other compensation details are subject to change based negotiated changes to the collective bargaining agreements.
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
