The Office of U.S. Senator-elect Ruben Gallego seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented Press Assistant based in Washington D.C. to join the Communications Team. This entry-level role is ideal for a self-starter with strong writing skills, a passion for public service, and a desire to contribute to the Senator's messaging and media strategy. Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience Key Responsibilities:
Assist in drafting and distributing press releases, media advisories, newsletters, and other written communications.
Monitor and compile daily news coverage, including tracking issues of importance to the Senator and constituents.
Maintain press contact lists and manage media databases.
Conduct research to inform speeches, op-eds, and other communications materials.
Perform administrative duties such as scheduling interviews, managing press kits, and organizing communications files.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, or a related field.
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with attention to detail.
Ability to multitask, work under tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
Knowledge of the legislative process and political communications is a plus.
Previous experience in communications, public relations, or political office is preferred but not required.
