The Office of U.S. Senator-elect Ruben Gallego seeks a Deputy Communications Director based in Washington D.C. to join a fast-paced and dynamic communications team. This position will assist in managing the communications team, help lead messaging and strategy, and focus on building and executing strategic communication efforts targeting diverse communities. Fluency in Spanish is required. Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Communications Director to develop and implement messaging strategies, particularly tailored to Latino communities.
Draft press releases, op-eds, speeches, talking points, and other materials in English and Spanish.
Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, reporters, and stakeholders.
Serve as an on-the-record spokesperson on issues specific to the Senator’s priorities.
Assist with Spanish-language translations and ensure cultural sensitivity in all communications.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, preferably in a political, government, or advocacy setting.
Fluency in Spanish (written and spoken) is required.
Experience developing relationships with diverse media and community stakeholders.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
