Summary

Peeler Operator

Duties/Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor PS8 and PSP peeler machines.
• Ensure quality control of peeled logs and wood products.
• Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Must be willing to cross-train in other areas of the facility.
• Set up and adjust saw equipment and replace blades or bands using wrenches, gauges and other hand tools
• Utilize woodworking tools like hand-held router, table saw, band saw, miter saw, sander, etc. when necessary
• Perform daily preventative maintenance of the mill including repair planning
• Ensure quality assurance of lumber product output
• Stack and sort materials
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations and utilizing safety equipment
• Clean and organize the sawmill regularly
• Adhere to safety protocols

Requirements/Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Good measuring and math skills
• Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time and work in a fast-paced, noisy environment in all weather conditions.
• The ability to twist, bend, and lift 50 lbs. repetitively
• Self-motivated, ability to work independently, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• General computer knowledge/experience and attention to detail
• Must be willing to work and be trained
• Pass a physical examination and drug test
