Colorado Springs Neurological Associates (CSNA) began in 1959 and is the largest and most experienced Neuroscience and Spine practice in southern Colorado. We proudly deliver the highest quality medical care to our community and we are seeking a Medication Specialist that shares our drive for excellence. We are a busy specialty medical practice that includes Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuropyschology, and Neuro-Optometry. Our ideal candidate is compassionate, reliable, patient, loves a challenge, and efficient at juggling tasks with focus and the proper sense of urgency. General Summary of Duties: The Medication Specialist monitors workques and gathers information needed to complete the authorization and scheduling of an injectable medication (Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, Myoblock, etc. and Qutenza). The Medication Specialist will initiate the call to schedule the patient and document as appropriate. You will evaluate portions to be paid by the patient, inform them as well as perform all insurance related assignments as instructed. You must complete functions of this role in a timely and accurate manor, as a patient’s treatment and satisfaction, as well as the collection of account balances, are impacted. Primary responsibilities include: · Next day chart check · 2 week chart check · Working workques for injectable/Qutenza authorizations
Obtain authorizations for all injectables and Qutenza.
· Must ensure ordering of injectables (Botox). · Initiating phone call to patient to schedule once authorization is obtained · Ordering medication and scheduling delivery of medication – using appropriate platforms · Contact and inform patients of HSA/HDHP policy and expectations
Notifies patients of deductibles
Correctly identifies insurance benefits/copays and deductibles and documents accurately in EMR.
Contacts primary care physicians regarding expiring referrals
Regularly calls insurance companies to follow up
Explores other payment options with patient when needed
Advising patients of reimbursement programs (Botox, etc.)
Informs/documents appropriate staff/patient of authorization/referral requirements.
Communicates patient’s financial obligations if applicable.
Works with physicians and third-party payors to obtain appropriate authorizations in a timely manner.
To work closely with MAs.
To be accountable for maintaining and updating client authorization records.
Must continue with their professional development.

Education: Minimum requirement of high school diploma or equivalent. College education in a relevant course of study is strongly preferred. Experience: Minimum requirement: · 1+ years of insurance verification (not required, preferred) · MA experience (not required, preferred) · Familiar with medical terminology · Professional telephone courtesy · Knowledge of computer systems and applications and other office equipment. · Ability to prioritize responsibilities. · Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively. · Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation. · Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing. · Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance. · Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employers, companies, internal managers and peers.
