Job Summary: Provides residents with services in accordance with health care provider’s orders regarding administration or assistance with medications and treatments, as per state regulations. Provides direct care to residents following the individualized service plan. Reports to: Wellness Director/ Executive Director Essential Functions and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: · Assists in maintaining the physical, social, and psychological environment that is conducive to the best interest and welfare of the residents. · Exercises independent judgment and discretion in the performance of personnel tasks with the understanding that the responsibilities are not routine or limited to resident care matters. Maintains a clean, safe, environment in the community by delegating job responsibilities. · As per state regulations and completion of required training/certification, administers or assists with self- administration of medication and treatments as prescribed by the health care provider. Observes resident’s response to existing treatment plan, is aware of prominent medication interactions and side effects, and observes residents for occurrence of such and notifies supervisor. Adheres to community infection control policies and procedures. · Assists residents with medication as defined in medication procedures. Supervises residents who self- administer medication. Exhibits understanding of and follows medication policies and procedures. · Maintains resident’s records daily and in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy and procedure. This includes documentation related to medication distribution, leisure activities, incidents and observations, charting any changes in resident's physical condition and or behaviors, visitors, etc. Observes and documents the health and emotional condition of each resident, promptly reporting all changes to the supervisor. · Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the medicine supply room. · Receives reports on all residents. · Completes an accurate accounting of all medications, including controlled substances as per policy. · Assists with completion of medication cart audits per policy and direction of supervisor. · Provides direct resident care. · Follows procedures regarding incidents/accidents involving residents. Exceptions may apply depending on state requirements. · 3 to 6 months related experience preferred and/or similar training. · Knowledge of senior living, Alzheimer's or a related dementia preferred. · Per state requirements an active state certification & training. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: · This is a physically demanding job that could or does requires standing, moving, reaching, lifting, stretching, bending, and carrying things throughout the day. · Position requires providing activities of daily living assistance to seniors and requires lifting and transferring or residents as appropriate. · Must be able to lift, push, and/or pull 50lbs. Knowledge and Skills: · Ability to read and write comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. · Ability to communicate effectively in English with residents, family members and other associates · Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. · Ability judgment in emergency situations and seeks assistance when needed. Basic level of a skill and can follow written or verbal instructions. · Ability to at times work flexible hours, such as early morning, evenings, weekends, and holidays. · Ability to assist in emergency situations. · Ability to understand facility’s fire and disaster plans; follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies. · Basic technical skills to complete a few repetitive and well-defined duties. · Basic knowledge of the organization in order to answer basic questions. · Basic knowledgeable of federal, state, and facility’s rules, regulations, policies and · procedures. · Follow defined safety codes while performing all duties. · Follow defined Infection Control procedures. Required Attendance: · Attend scheduled department staff meetings. · Attend in-service educational programs. · Attend annual recertifications for state required license & certificates.
