This
MFC Program Assistant is a key member of the Marine Fisheries Commission office, administering and coordinating a variety of tasks. This position coordinates all administrative functions for planning, setting up and providing support to the nine-member Marine Fisheries Commission (MFC) and MFC Advisory Committees (five standing regional and subject-matter committees and, at least, two fishery management plan committees for a total of at least 75 committee members). Housed in the Division Director’s Office, this position reports directly to the Marine Fisheries Commission Liaison. This position accomplishes assigned tasks through communication, organization, and leadership support. This position, along with the Marine Fisheries Commission Liaison, ensures effective operation of the Marine Fisheries Commission office and ensures all Commission meetings are successfully accomplished.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently manage the Marine Fisheries Commission Office, including office coordination, budget monitoring, purchasing, contracts, etc.
- Work with the Marine Fisheries Commission Liaison to plan, coordinate, and execute all Marine Fisheries Commission and Advisory Committee meetings.
- Apply and ensure compliance with current legislation, rules, bylaws, policies, and guidelines.
- Execute assigned responsibilities efficiently, on time, and with minimal supervision.
- Effectively and professionally communicate with internal and external stakeholders on various topics ranging from coordination of Division staff to phone calls from the public on marine resource issues.
