Under the direction of the dean of Learning Resources, the Maker Studio Lab Assistant will assist in the daily operations of the Maker Studio and Podcasting Studio maintain and prepare the Maker Studio and Podcasting Studio for instructional use; maintain and prepare machines in Maker Studio and Podcasting Studio; maintain inventory of Maker Studio and Podcasting Studio supplies; provide special guidance for instructors and students as needed; work collaboratively with other library staff and IT when printers, equipment or 3D printing supplies need to be repaired, replaced or replenished; and performs related duties as assigned. Maintained, stocked, and ordered all library-related supplies and handles other departmental tasks.
The Maker Studio Lab Assistant is dedicated to learning college concepts by facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.
Duties include, but not limited to, the following:
1. Assist in the daily operations and maintenance of the Maker Studio and Podcasting Studio.
2. Investigate and recommend new machines, accessories, materials, and software for the Maker Studio and Podcasting Studio. Works collaboratively with IT to maintain and update hardware and software for library devices.
3. Assist users in determining viability, and explain the determination for jobs using Maker Studio and Podcasting Studio machines
4. Maintain and prepare the Maker Studio and Podcasting Studio and related machines for instructional use.
5. Provide special guidance for instructors and students as needed.
6. Maintain inventory of library tools, equipment, and lab supplies. Maintain and order supplies for the department/subdivision and maintain library spaces. Inform the Dean of Learning Resources when tools, equipment, or lab supplies must be repaired, replaced, or replenished and prepare orders.
7. Monitor and report damages, needed repairs, and housekeeping needs to campus operations, IT, and supervisor.
8. Prepares and processes purchase orders and invoices for payment.
9. Coordinates printing projects with reprographics.
10. Assists with the departmental capital purchases with regard to delivery, installation and operations, etc.
11. Performs a variety of duties that are specific to the office of assignment and that require knowledge of the procedures, functions, and software programs used by that office.
12. Performs job-related duties as assigned. May coordinate activities of student employees.
