Library Page
The Opportunity
The Town of Mansfield (www.mansfieldct.gov) is hiring a part-time Library Page at the main location of the Mansfield Public Library. Our Library Pages are primarily responsible for performing shelving and circulation desk tasks at the Library.
The Library Page must be friendly, customer-focused, and possess the ability to work independently, following oral and written directions. Basic computer skills as well as the ability to organize materials numerically and alphabetically are required.
Sample Library Page duties include:
- Providing general information and customer service to the public;
- Performing library circulation functions and associated circulation desk tasks;
- Shelving and shifting library materials to maintain proper order and spacing of the collections.
About Us
The Mansfield Library provides guidance and access to the materials and information which enhance and enrich the lives of people of all ages. The Library’s main branch is at 54 Warrenville Road, with two smaller branches in Mansfield as well. Additionally, the Library regularly does outreach in the community. Mansfield’s Information Technology Department collaborates with the Library to support patron technology access at the Library’s three locations, as well as online access to resources from community locations and from home.
Mansfield, with a population of approximately 26,000, is located in the Northeastern portion of the state, better known as Connecticut’s Last Green Valley National Heritage Corridor. Home to the University of Connecticut, Mansfield offers the unique blend of urban (Downtown Storrs - www.mansfieldmdp.org), suburban, and rural living in a university setting. Mansfield has a variety of cultural and educational offerings, as well as an abundance of natural resources ideal for activities such as hiking, cycling, and kayaking. Mansfield is a Council-Manager form of government, with the Town Manager serving as the Chief Executive Officer responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Town.
Total Compensation
Beginning rate of pay is $15.69/hr. This position is part-time with no benefits.
Work Schedule & Location
The selected candidate will be scheduled for up to 19 hours per week. The work location is the Mansfield Public Library, 54 Warrenville Road, Mansfield Center, CT 06250.
This position requires a varied work schedule including evenings and Saturdays.
