Job Summary The Snowflake Administrator is responsible for managing, monitoring, and ensuring the optimal performance of the Snowflake data platform. Collaborating with the Data Management and Business Intelligence Teams, the Snowflake Administrator will design, implement, and refine Snowflake environments and structures, addressing any issues identified promptly. This position will partner with the Data Development Teams to ensure that efficient data management procedures are embedded in the development and deployment processes. The Snowflake Administrator will also escalate critical issues to the IT leadership team as necessary and ensure that the platform aligns with the company's data strategy and goals.
Essential Responsibilities
Assess the current performance and efficiency of the Snowflake data platform (running system diagnostics).
Participate in establishing, monitoring, and reporting on target goals for data management and system performance improvements.
Identify optimal approaches for resolving Snowflake platform issues to achieve targets.
Work within and beyond data management areas to implement system improvement approaches.
Monitor and track ongoing system performance levels.
Ensure that optimal system performance is maintained so that the data can effectively support business processes.
Proactively and timely resolve or escalate Snowflake platform issues.
Work in a collaborative fashion with other Snowflake Administrators, data analysts, and overall IT management team.
Escalate issues exceeding the scope of this position to IT leadership or other business leaders.
Influence changes to business processes and restrict access to applications and data to resolve behaviors impacting negatively on system performance.
Identify system performance metrics and execute system audits to benchmark the state of Snowflake platform.
Participate in development of monitoring and alerting solutions for identifying potential system performance issues.
Regularly monitor alerts and take appropriate actions to resolve issues before they impact business activities.
Regularly expose system performance metrics via standard reporting mechanisms (for example, system performance scorecard or dashboard).
Engage with business leadership to quantify and articulate the business impact of system performance issues.
Follow prescribed methodologies to execute system improvement projects.
Actively participate in the design and deployment of data integration processes to ensure standards and controls to ensure high-quality of data are implemented.
Publicize successes to further engage individuals at all levels of the organization.

Experience and/or Education Required
Minimum 3 years’ experience with Tableau, SQL, Snowflake and MS Azure cloud
Minimum 3 years’ experience monitoring and maintaining ETL pipelines with Azure data factory
Minimum 3 years’ experience with statistical software packages, such as Python, R or SAS
Experience with Agile frameworks
Experience working in health care payer/managed care organizations
Preferred
Experience in planning or leading data quality initiatives
Familiarity with and basic knowledge of statistics, control charts and process controls
Experience in the healthcare or health insurance industry
Experience with Health Plan business processes
Experience with Medicaid and Medicare programs
Experience with SQL Server tools like SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Knowledge
Deep understanding of Snowflake architecture, features, and capabilities
Strong knowledge of system development methodologies
Comprehensive knowledge of SQL Server databases including administration, query optimization, and troubleshooting
Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts including ETL processes, data modeling, and data architecture
Understanding of the healthcare insurance sector, including industry-specific data structures, terminologies, and privacy laws
Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in SQL and other scripting languages like Python
Ability to perform database administration, performance tuning, and data modeling
Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues and come up with effective solutions
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritizing tasks based on business needs, and meeting project deadlines
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex technical information to non-technical team members and stakeholders
Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with diverse groups of professionals including data analysts, IT staff, and business stakeholders
Ability to adapt to changing business needs, new technologies, and evolving industry standards
High degree of attention to detail when designing, testing, and maintaining data management systems
Ability to learn new skills and staying up to date with industry trends and best practices
