Idaho Ice World is Idaho's premier indoor family ice skating and entertainment center offering youth and adult hockey leagues and instructional classes for all ages and skill levels.
Hockey Recreation Specialist:
- Coordinates, monitors, and schedules year-round hockey programs, camps, and clinics.
- Promotes and coordinates ice hockey tournaments and events.
- Evaluate participant skill development and support registration.
- This position works under general supervision.
Essential Functions
Implements hockey programs and recommends scheduling with the hockey program coordinator. Evaluates and monitors enrollment numbers, effectiveness and efficiency of programs and adjusts activities and staffing as needed. (20%)
Oversees the USA Hockey registration and evaluation process. Creates, processes and issues reports and certificates of completion. Monitors annual membership requirements of participants. Coordinates available resources, facilities, supplies and equipment. Works with partners during tournament events, camps and clinics. Collaborates with the hockey program coordinator and employees from other facilities to cooperatively offer staff training opportunities, camps and clinics. (20%)
Maintains records of participation and regularly updates Team Sideline software. Researches inquiries and ensures accurate and prompt responses. Makes program recommendations based on analysis of enrollment and cost recovery. (20%)
Provides feedback and identifies areas for improvement. Assigns job duties and work schedules. Ensures staff understand and comply with policies and procedures. (20%)
Acquires supplies and equipment and monitors expenses and purchases, under direction from the the hockey program coordinator. (20%)

Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation, physical education, kinesiology or a related field and three years of experience in recreation programming and one year of supervisory and administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Knowledge of: figure skating and hockey; Learn to Play USA programs; USA Hockey League eligibility and regulations effective supervision techniques; event coordination and planning; effective customer service; computer usage including related software; and community relations techniques and public contact programs.
Ability to: oversee coaching programs for a wide array of age groups; stay abreast of relevant new and changing methods and techniques of coaching and skating; manage multiple events and tasks; coordinate with staff to ensure events are scheduled properly and run efficiently; display a high degree of public relations skill; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Five years of experience with youth and adult sports programming.
Hockey playing experience or previously running a Learn to Play Hockey program.
Licensing And Other Requirements
Learn to Skate USA membership

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds. Also, the employee is frequently pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds and occasionally pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. The noise level is frequently moderate. Work includes the sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb and balance. Position requires hand/finger dexterity. Additional physical efforts include ice skating and assisting others on the ice.
Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions and extreme temperatures. Works on/around ice.
This position works: evenings, weekends, and holidays as programs are scheduled.
